The first edition of the UPGRADE 100 festival, the new concept of the former iCEE.fest, announced the final figures for this year’s participation.
3,772 people attended the festival – of which 200 speakers – a lower number than the “over 4,000” figure initially announced. The participants came from over 20 countries, with a share of about 75% from Romania.

“We had over 4,200 entries to the festival, it’s fair – but it’s not the same as the number of participants, as the number of unique visitors to a site is not equal, but a few times higher than those who visit that site. We prefer fair reporting, so we have publicly corrected our accurate figure, faithful to our <zero bullshit> policy”, explained the founder of the festival, Dragos Stanca, in a message to the participants.
On the festival’s website, the tickets for the next year’s edition are already on sale, which is at least as spectacular as the transformations generated by technology and the Internet will be amplified.
The eight UPGRADE 100 scenes have had a total of over 100 hours of content, grouped in 11 simultaneous conferences – all of the festival’s presentations being available to community members (who hold a valid 2019 or 2020 ticket) in the UPGRADE 100 app.
UPGRADE 100 had 45 partners this year, including Orange – the main sponsor since its first edition – Nissan, George / BCR, Coca-Cola, GLO, mPlatform, MedLife, Verizon Media, MedLife, Majoritas Academy, and others. The complete list is here.
