Comment

200 speakers and guests, representatives of the big Internet-focused companies and new technologies will climb on the 8 stages of UPGRADE 100, the new concept of iCEE.fest, the festival that takes place on Thursday and Friday (June, 13 & 14) in Bucharest, Romania.

More than 3,000 professionals, large companies and startups from 15 countries confirmed their participation – the organizers announced the suspension of the possibility of booking online tickets today at 18:00.

The festival, launched in Bucharest in 2012, has reached its 8th edition and has a new positioning that analyses the impact of digital change in all business areas – without giving up on the attention paid to the digital communication area, the media and online marketing, a common denominator linking all industries influenced by the explosion of the Internet.

The name change comes not only because the area of concern and the fields covered by the festival have changed over time – reaching areas like fintech, blockchain, e-health, public government – but the focus of the festival is no longer strictly on Central and Eastern Europe, but on all emerging markets in the region”

“We have a large number of participants coming from outside the CEE and Romania has reached the level at which it can host an ample, international event relevant to a broader geographical area,” explains Dragoş Stanca, founder and organizer of the festival.

  • Event agenda is exceptionally complex, and explanations are here.

Experts covering 11 different content lines that are listed here include Singularity University co-founder Salim Ismail – who named the Bucharest event “the top digital transformation festival I know, in Europe“- futurist Matthew Griffin, famous speaker David JP Phillips or former CEO of XPrize Foundation, Marcus Shingles.

There will be other well-known authors of books, studies, and experts from the major media, creative, production or performance agencies, as well as representatives of global Internet and technology giants – Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Accenture, Salesforce, Thales Alenia Space, UiPath and many others.

Among those who will take the stage include FBI agent Dean Kinsman, cyberwar and cybersecurity specialist.

This year, the festival launches an ample satellite event – two scenes, one of which, dedicated to startups, investors and corporations interested in investing in ideas and entrepreneurs at the beginning of the road, offering a 50,000-euro award for the business idea who will win the “UPGRADE 100 Elevator Pitch” competition.

  • Details about startups offer and investment funds are here.

Thanks to some of the partnerships that the event has closed, funds have been directed towards the sponsorship of startups and students’ participation, free of charge, based on a call for applications.

The entertainment is also part of the festival: stand-up comedy with the famous actor Jeff Leach, a robot moderator, live concerts, music, and DJ will ensure the good mood in the UPGRADE 100 Summer Playground, plus various activations of the event’s partners, which will take place in the experimental area (indoor and outdoor) of the festival.

iCEE.fest: UPGRADE 100 takes place at Grand Cinema & More in Bucharest, Thursday and Friday, June 13 & 14, and is supported by Orange, Nissan, George – BCR, Coca-Cola, GLO, mPlatform, MedLife, Verizon Media, SalesForce, MedLife, Majoritas Academy, and other sponsors.
